Again, another month passed and I didn’t put much effort into keeping my blog alive. Lots of interesting things happen in the passed few weeks. I could have written three or four blog entries. But for this round, I will blog about my participation in Kuala Lumpur Design Week 2010 (KLDW).

Side story

Before that, I like to share a side story about KLDW. Although this is the second year for KLDW which were held annually, but thing doesn’t start out smoothly if compare with last year exhibitions. Some of my friends went to the exhibitions early in the first day and find out that most things were not ready for viewing. So, they voice out their dissatisfaction loudly in Facebook. Unexpectedly, the president of KLDW committee came in and has an argument with them. Just like any other argument on the internet, things start to get ugly as more peoples joined in the discussion. Luckily, the “heat” went down after a few days.

My artwork at KLDW

Now, let’s go back to the topic on my participation in KLDW 2010. Actually, I didn’t really participate in KLDW but I do have a few artworks and design being shown at KLDW 2010 under other exhibitors.

My submission for CUTOUT Magazine cover design competition is shown at CapSquare KL, Malaysia. My artwork is near the top right and stop looking at the girl. Photo courtesy of CUTOUT Magazine.

My submissions for UrbanCreatur3s’s BOXIES is shown at CapSquare KL, Malaysia. Photo courtesy of UrbanCreatur3s.

My submissions for Digitization is shown at National Art Gallery and Petronas Art Gallery. These are all the artworks I submit one year ago, I am not really sure which one is shown at which location. Larger images of these illustrations can be seen at my deviantart.

KLDW Conference

Ironically, I didn’t visit any of the exhibitions which have my artworks shown as I was spending whole day in the KLDW Super Ani/Motion Conference. I won’t blog about the conference here, but if you want to read more about it, you can visit my friend, Aidi’s blog, as he had written a pretty good blog entry about it.

All the attendant for the KLDW conference will get a bag, a KLDW book, and a tag which I think is quite neat.

Oh look! My artwork in the book! I can’t remember that I had submit my “Crazy World” artwork to them and the print crop my artwork.

I noticed there are still some peoples in deviantArt like my paper model bunny. So, I decide to reblog this content here. This is a paper model bunny I did out of boredom around mid of 2008. During that time, I was bored with the repetitive office works and feel like doing some papercraft. Instead of downloading some complicated paper model, I draw the “blueprint” myself.

Papercraft is a great cheap hobby for poor people like me. The only cost for it is paper and print. If you feel like saving your ink and paper too, then do this in the office. Just tell your boss that you are doing research if he or she found out you are wasting the company resource.

Images below show the second version of this paper model. I added more details such as legs and tail to the paper model “blueprint”. If you have extra time to spend, you can actually modify the “blueprint” and make it to any other type of creatures.

Unfortunately, all the photos you see here is old photos of mine. I left all these paper model in the office and never took them along with me when I resigned from my last job. Last I heard from my ex-colleagues, someone in the office had smash them to death.
