I was going through my old blog entries and saw my “Little Red Riding Hood” illustration. This is a very “long” image (5000 pixel width) I did when the economic recession hit last year. Apparently, a lot of peoples that I know like this illustration. So, I will re-blog it here to start the “art and design” category in this new blog.
“Little Red Riding Hood”, a well known fairy tale about a little girl encounter with a big bad nasty wolf. Until this day, it had been re-adapted into various media and I had seen some nice twisted ending. My favorite adaptation is a manga version that I read during my secondary school. The end panel shows a terrified Little Red Riding Hood, and her grandmother is sitting on floor with few bones around. Apparently, her grandmother is so hungry that she kills and eats the wolf.
Images below show the progress of this illustration. Please note that this is only part of the images as the full size is 5000 pixel wide after scale down. Original image width is around 7500 pixel.

Nearly every vector art I did will start with some sketch. The images you see here is actually second “stage” of sketching where I had already clean up the line. Some line seem to be darker because they were in another layers.

This image show all the vector line. Those vertical and horizontal line are actually gradient colour use to overlay the image. It is use to add some atmospheric colour to the illustration.

This is the final art with colours. Click on one of the link below the view the full image. Just scroll from left to right to see my adaption of “Little Red Riding Hood”. I guess this illustration will tell the story and there is no need for words.
This is very interesting, I like this blog a lot. I believe it shows a lot about the younger generations story and how it should be told today. The last illustration shows how technology can bring out a good tale. This relates the story with art as well. Which is very significant due to the past of the tale. It started out as a tale for purity when first created, then turned into a tale to not speak to strangers. This shows that not only is it a tale that we tell but we show as well. This would be great to show the rest of the story in this illustration as well. It could be a story that catches everyones attention. This is a great illustration and I believe it shows how we look at little red riding hood today.
you’re good . . when i look at that picture make me remember the story of red hood girl and also some game have nice spot like that.
The very first draft have more cats. Something like one cat is telling story to the rest, but I didnt put the idea in because feeling lazy to trace all of it. :/
